Rules and concepts for play on -=NoBS=- Servers
#1. Play with your team as a teammate.
America's Army 3 is an objective-based, team-oriented game. If you want to be a rogue, or you think you play better alone‚ then go find a different server. On our servers, we request that you use team play concepts. Use your microphone, follow the leader (or be the leader), and get the objectives completed.
#2. Communicate with your team.
There is more to do in an online game than to simply trudge through it solo. If you want to play by yourself, without saying, typing, or responding to anything‚ why are you doing that in a MULTIPLAYER game? AA3 has VOIP (Voice Over IP) built into the game, use it, we, and most players do. If a request is made of you, answer. If you are being spoken to, respond. As a clan we use TeamSpeak3 and invite you to come on our TS3 Server and interact with the team.
#3. Pursue your objective, or die trying.
America's Army 3 is a game of securing and defending objectives and/or protecting the VIP. Your objective is to work as a team and win the game. You CAN NOT sit in your spawn the whole game and win. Focusing on your personal KD, or your own statistics while forsaking the team sets a bad example for team play, and is thus a problem for others on your team. Regardless of what you think the game is about, the fact is, if you don't complete the objective, you lose. Focus on the objectives, and high scores will follow naturally. This involves many different strategies, including holding critical choke points, suppressing the enemy's ability to move freely within specific areas, provide medical attention when needed and coordinating with the team to capture objectives.
It is difficult to define camping in the context of America's Army 3, since the game requires complex strategies of defending and holding territory, the use of stealth, and precise timing, so it will be judged on a case by case basis. Camping, by definition, is remaining in a specific area only to take enemies by surprise, however offering no strategic advantage to the team, other than to pad your personal KD is frowned upon.
An example of camping would be:
Being in a position to take an. Objective, especially when if it is not taken your team will lose, and NOT taking it, simply because you are worried about being seen, or dying. Worrying about LOSING should come BEFORE worrying about dying.
Camping is NOT simply sitting in one place for a long time. That is a definition for simpleton games like Unreal and Quake. It's an outdated definition that does NOT apply here. If you are able to hold your position for an extended time period because you have teammates guarding your flanks, and keeping you supported, then you go ahead and give the enemy hell. You and your team's coordinated efforts are shutting down the enemy's ability to advance and secure objectives which thus enhances your team's ability to win.
If you are camping in a manner that does not benefit your team, you will know by the complaints and insults hurdled your way. If you know something that your team doesn't, such as WHY you feel you are JUSTIFIED in holding that position, all you have to do is speak up, calmly, and explain yourself. Your team, if they are true teammates, even if they are admins, have a responsibility to listen to your goals and ideas just as much as you do to theirs. Teamwork is a two way street, so be sure to communicate, and do so often, especially if you think you may be considered a camper. If you are communicating and justifying your actions to your team, then there should be no problem.
Please keep in mind, we are NOT asking you to run off into your deaths. But we ARE asking you to play America's Army 3. If you want to stand around and shoot at things, then go do it by yourself. We have high traffic servers with a LOT of people waiting in line to get on. If you do not want to play hard, then play elsewhere.
Get out there and play. Fight for those objectives, shoot enemy VIPs, and hold your ground. Call out desperately for reinforcements, set up your defenses, and win. Above all things, win.
#4. The sniper slot is to be shared on the Bridge Server.
The sniper position is a very important and strategically useful weapon on Bridge, thus it is to be shared and not "hogged" by one player. You may use the sniper for a match but then it is asked that you let some other players be able to select the slot. Repeatedly selecting the sniper slot and not sharing it can result in your removal from the Bridge server. It is highly recommended that you have VOIP ability in the Sniper position. It is very important as the sniper that you call out enemy locations, thus in game VOIP becomes a very important team concept requirement.
DMR Usage on Bridge Map for -=NoBS=- Members and Non-Members.
The DMR is considered the most important weapon and position in AA3 Bridge. As such, to keep the game play fair and consistent, here are some rules that while not being set in stone, are the guidelines for -=NoBS=- Members and Non-Members.
1. Anyone, whether on comms (TS3 or VOIP in game) can keep the DMR at least 3 Rounds. If they have VOIP, they can keep it for 6 Rounds including the Tie Breaker Round if there is one.
2. If the person using the DMR does not have voice, but is an asset to the team (in eliminating Op4's) and manages to get it for the second 3 Rounds, it is up to the discretion of the -=NoBS=- Members only whether that person should keep it. If the -=NoBS=- Members decide that someone else should have a turn at the DMR, inform the person that the DMR is to be shared with others, with a preference to those that are either on TS3 or VOIP in game. This does not mean that the next person to have it has to be a -=NoBS=- Member.
3. If the player using the DMR is not an asset to the team, they can keep it for 3 Rounds. Once the 3 Rounds are over, if they get the DMR again, they can be asked to give it to someone else (and not necessarily a -=NoBS=- Member). If they do not respond to voice in game, or text, then they should be warned that they will be kicked from the game. If after one additional round they still have it, the player is to be kicked from the server for one (1) minute.
4. As for -=NoBS=- members, share, pass it off after one set to someone else. While paying to be here, sharing with non-members goes a long way toward "good will" and to keep the -=NoBS=- name in good standing among those in the AA community.
#5. Abusive conduct will not be tolerated.
If you are an abusive player, with insulting communications with your team, and purposely playing to lose, expect to be removed from the Servers quickly.
Since we run and maintain three Servers, occasionally it will be the responsibility of members of the team to speak out against slow acting, weak, or ignorant players (such as those not holding valuable territory, persistent campers, etc). All players are encouraged to speak clearly and calmly to get their team on the same page, however the Server Admins are aware that some people just don't listen. In these cases, some yelling and screaming may be involved. The Admin will make a judgment depending on the circumstances for any case of abuse resulting in a hostile playing environment. Should you feel that the Admin is the cause of the abuse, feel free to post such comments in our Forums.
If you are a player being berated by your teammates, instead of jumping up and shouting back, listen to their complaints. Did you block the door? Are you not assisting in taking objectives when you are able to do so? Are you selling out the team strategy? Then you deserve to be criticized, and you should modify your playing style to help the team, rather than defending your non-team-player attitude. The Admin can always solve the problem easily in this situation. The problem isn't the yelling and cursing....the problem is you, the non-team-player, and you will be removed from the Server.
#6. Punkbuster doesn't do everything.
Cheating is rampant in any multiplayer game. Though PB is hopefully catching and banning a significant portion of hackers, that doesn't eliminate the need for Admins and Kick Specialists to make their own judgment calls. Of course, obvious hacks that increase speed, or exploiting the game in order to move through walls or under buildings, gain an unfair advantage, are easily detected and dealt with by being banned from all of our Servers and reports made to the appropriate Server Admins. However, occasionally you meet a player who not only cheats, but knows how to do so without being very obvious. Though you may not know who the Admins are, you should know that there is rarely a moment that any of our servers is not populated without at least 1 Admin or Kick Specialist. Should you feel someone is cheating let a -=NoBS=- player know so that the player can be investigated.
Our decision to ban someone is based on a variety of things. Principally, it's based upon the opinions of SEVERAL Admins, and at least all Admins present on the server at that time. Rarely will anyone be banned by the decision of any single Admin. Also, our bans are usually held off until a larger investigation can be made into the suspicious player's statistics. Once enough information has been gathered, either by Admins spectating the player, questionable anomalies in the player's statistics, screenshots are checked, and other issues, a decision to ban will be made.
It is important for us to point out that we don't want to ban anyone. We are not some punk Clan run by children who are here to "pwn noobs" and "speek leet". We are here to play and manage the game. If we banned everyone that was good, we'd have to ban half our Clan. If you get banned, and you think we're crazy, by all means, make a post in the banned forums about it. We'll listen. In fact, we've unbanned dozens of players who made legible, clear, and open explanations or statements about their ban.
#7. VIP position on Alley map
The VIP position on the Alley map is the most demanding and important position on the map. You are the objective for both teams. Assault wants to kill you and escort wants to protect you to the final objective position. Having a microphone and using in game VOIP is crucial to your teams success so they know where you are going and your plan for making it to the objective. Playing Rambo as the VIP is not beneficial to you or your teams success.
If a player gets the VIP position and does not have a microphone, thus unable to communicate via VOIP then he should type his plan to HIS team before the start of each round and someone should follow the VIP that has VOIP capability and inform the team of the VIP’s location and other pertinent information.
A player that does not have voice communications is requested to not select the VIP position over and over unless the team thinks he is and asset to their overall success. Playing that position for the initial 3 rounds that you select it or are forced into by the game and endeavoring to do your best is fine but reselecting that position on the next escort mission for your team is ill-advised and could cause an issue resulting in a kick from the server.
Things to do that can get you kicked, and/or banned on the server.
#1. Cheat, or refuse to reasonably explain yourself when questioned about cheating. Explanations do not include the phrases "Shutup noobs”, “I'm in CAL. I pwn."
#2. No Recoil will earn you a quick ban.
#3. Say nothing but insults in the chat and microphone, especially about teamplay. Spamming your microphone, the text chat, or the voice command system with useless jabberings will be kicked immediately from the Server.
#4. Blatantly challenge the authority of the Admin in a rude and disrespectful manner.
#5. Berating, insulting other players or -=NoBS=- Clan Members.
#6. Failure to share the sniper slot when requested after the required rounds.
#7. Foul language, cursing, or not speaking English after being requested to use English on the Server, on TS3 or in game VOIP.
#8. Exploit defects of the game to obtain an unfair advantage over other players.
Commonly called “Exploiting”.
#9. Team Killing. Obviously, accidents happen, and accidental teamkills do occur. However, irresponsible use of indiscriminate weaponry, or intentional teamkills for any reason, will earn you an immediate Ban from all of our Servers.
#10. Intentional continual TK’ing (Team Killing).
In the event that your account is banned by Punk Buster, or any other third party software installed on our Servers, you will be required to appeal to those developers. Only then, if your ban is lifted will you be granted an appeal and be required to submit an unban request in the Ban Appeal Forum. If you are not able to resolve this issue with those developers, you are to remain banned from all -=NoBS=- property indefinitely. -=NoBS=- has zero tolerance for people that choose to cheat.
Disclaimer: This is not all inclusive. -=NoBS=- Senior Admins reserve the right to kick/ban players for reasons other than those listed here and to update these rules/policies as needed without prior warning.
